MIDLOTHIAN, Va., July 26, 2006 /PRNewswire/ -- Next week, PARI Respiratory Equipment will launch the PARI LC Sprint reusable nebulizer and the PARI TREK S compressor -- an improved, portable aerosol medication delivery system. The LC Sprint is the next generation of the PARI LC Plus, the standard nebulizer that has been used to deliver aerosol therapies for asthma, COPD, and cystic fibrosis over the last 10 years. Combined with PARI's TREK S, the LC Sprint delivers medication treatments averaging between 5 to 6 minutes.

PARI's LC Sprint reusable nebulizer is designed to maximize the output of aerosol in the "respirable range" -- particles with a mass median diameter between 1 and 4.8 microns -- the range clinically proven to deliver medication to the lungs. Combined with the TREK S, treatment times have also been reduced to an average of 5 to 6 minutes.
Breath enhancement is another feature of the PARI LC Sprint. Each patient's unique breathing pattern controls and optimizes medication delivery to the lungs by means of two valves on the nebulizer. Patients breathe in and out through the nebulizer. Through normal breathing patterns, inhaled breaths increase aerosol output. Exhaled breaths are released through a one-way valve in the mouthpiece that reduces medication wastage.
The reusable LC Sprint is made up of only four parts, so it is easier for patients to use, clean, and store. It also has a Clear-View medication window so patients can monitor the level of medication left in the nebulizer.
PARI's TREK S is a compact, portable compressor that can run on a rechargeable lithium ion battery or use an AC adaptor. The 50-minute battery life can be recharged in less than half the time of the previous version -- two hours versus five hours.
